on Feeling
"how does it feel when you walk with your camera?" —kimberly
the nervous anticipation that comes with creating on a medium without instant gratification causes me — someone who operates with high-functioning anxiety — to quietly become very worked up while photographing
on the other hand, it gives me something to do with my hands when i am out in the world and would otherwise be feeling uncomfortable
i call it a very lizard-brained activity because i become so hyper-focused on seeing the world in terms of composition that everything else becomes white noise
the first time i challenged myself to go out and photograph in a traditional street-photography style, i ended up covered in sweat by the time i was finished
it's not always easy to disengage afterwards
i think it would be really fun to have a round-table discussion on introversion and anxiety in photography
